Look what made its way back to the shop! Our customer will be amazed at the rebuild that BlouchTurbo was able to do on this BPT 20G-XT for his Bugeye WRX!! This thing looks like a brand new turbo and is sure to perform as good as it looks. This turbo was originally done in by numerous vacuum leaks, causing the turbo to over spin in an effort to make the boost levels that it should have been making, and ultimately leading to a failure with the thrust bearing. Now the customer can finally make the power levels we were hoping for during the first tune with us! ... See MoreSee Less
The full length video has been completed of the Motion Lab built 800+ HP 2004STi for our customer Ricardo. He wanted the perfect combination of raw power, stunning looks, and wanted to maintain good street manners at the same time. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into this one to get it just right for our client. Seeing as how we comfortably drove it around the streets of Charlotte, I think he will be thrilled with the finished product.
DeLand MartinRicardo, thank God i got to see your car a couple of times, i know you are enjoying it, Motion Lab is the only ones that touch my evo, and Alex or Todd, if you get this please call me i need to set up an appt. to bring my evo down for some service work we talked about please.1 week ago · 1
Lots of big winter projects going down here at Motion Lab, we love what we do. First up is a 2015 STI build we have wrapping up in the next week with our ML700 spec shortblock, built heads, ETS goodies with ceramic coating and GTX3582, and a fuel system for e85 including a slick Radium surge tank.
Next is a ML500+ shipping to a long time customer of ours in Tennessee. Blueprinted and Bagged up ready to go. The ML500+ features the Manley H-tuff rods and standard platinum series 2618 forged pistons. ACL race bearings throughout, new induction hardened crank, and a fresh 705 casting case from Subaru.
Last are a set of 89.5mm pistons with slick looking anti-friction skirt coating (pun intended) we have been waiting on for a big Evo X MR build going down. RS24 spec shortblock, built cylinder head, ETS top mount turbo kit with HTA35r, and the SSP stage 3 Sidewinder clutch packs and heated sump pan. This car will be returning home to
Ryan BonnevieI'm gonna be so bummed out when your car is done before mine Andrew Smith. I picked up my block from Alex 2 1/2 months ago. Doing things yourself and on your own time is a big bag of suck!2 weeks ago
Yesterday on the dyno was this WRX wagon, after an unfortunate bearing failure, we got him setup with a new OEM short block and Exedy US clutch kit. The car went on the dyno to finish up a fresh tune for him with an AEM intake, turboback exhaust, COBB Tuning 3port boost control solenoid and of course V3 Accessport. The car is ready for many more miles of enjoyment at this point!
Get with us today so that we can get you back rolling tomorrow!
Here is the Motion Lab Sponsored Rally America Car owned and driven by Dennis Romero. After a little incident at the Empire State Rally 2015, we got the car fixed back up and ready to hit the stages again. Be sure to look for him in March at the SandBlast Rally here fairly local!! He will once again be running in the Super Production Class and we are wishing him the best of luck for the 2016 Race Season! Stay tuned for updated pictures and videos from the events as the season progresses. If you want to see some action immediately, hop on over to YouTube and search for Rally America 2015 videos! ... Due to worsening road conditions as a result of freezing rain, sleet, and snow in the area today we will be closing early today at 11AM EST. Unfortunately the city of Charlotte is not well equipped to handle these conditions. Safety carries the utmost importance with us for both our staff and our customers vehicles. We will be returning to normal business hours 9AM to 6PM on Monday 1/25/2016.
Today's projects all involve Subarus. We are continuing progress on a large build for a great customer in Texas on the 15 STi, dropping the ML500+ into the 13 STi, and installing some IAG Performance TGV deletes, DeatschWerks Bosch EV14 1000cc injectors and an COBB Tuning 3 port boost control solenoid into the Silver 13 WRX Hatch in preparation for a custom Motion Lab dyno tune. Three completely different levels of work and power goals but all great projects in their own rights!
From mild to wild, whatever you are looking for out of your Subaru, we can help you make it a reality!
Firstly, let’s define Flex Fuel. Flex Fuel allows seamless flexibility between using standard gasoline and ethanol based fuel which is where the term Flex Fuel is derived. The key component enabling flexible fuel usage is an ethanol content sensor. This provides a real-time measurement of the ethanol content feeding the car’s engine allowing the ECU to actively make adjustments based on the sensor reading. This is something several US manufacturers have had implemented for a number of years. You have probably seen several vehicles badging this capability during your commute. Although there are vehicles that have this functionality from the manufacturer, unfortunately, very few of them are models that are likely to be found in an enthusiast’s garage. Ergo: COBB Flex Fuel!
The COBB Flex Fuel kit consists of an ethanol content sensor and analyzer. This is a plug and play system that connects directly to factory hardware and mounting points. Couple this hardware with your COBB Accessport and an off-the-shelf (OTS) Map and you get the OEM functionality of Flex Fuel with the added performance ethanol has to offer.
WHY DO I WANT IT?
Compared to standard pump fuel, the higher ethanol content in E85 provides a substantially higher effective octane rating. The octane rating of a fuel indicates it’s ability to resist detonation. This added resistance allows tuning to be more aggressive through timing and boost, yielding greater horsepower output. These factors combined make for a fuel solution with more power potential over the standard gasoline you find at the pump. With an active Flex Fuel system, a vehicle’s ECU is able to seamlessly blend calibrations required for each type of fuel.
The COBB Flex Fuel kit will allow you to overcome any disparities in ethanol content from station to station or season to season. This is something a standard tune for E85 cannot do. Also, if there isn’t a station with E85 convenient, simply fill up with pump gas and avoid the need to change maps. ... See MoreSee Less
Today we have a couple of projects going on for two great rival cars! The Evo VIII is getting a brand new OEM 5 speed transmission, while the STi EJ257 engine is being prepped for installation back into the 13 STi from which it came for a Motion Lab ML500+ build and tune. There's always been a great rivalry between the two platforms, we love them both here at Motion Lab! Leave a comment telling us which platform you prefer, and why? Please keep it civil though.
No matter which platform you prefer, we are here to help you make it better than your rivals!
