Subaru recommends replacing the timing belt every 105,000 miles as a preventative maintenance item. We say that given the aggressive driving nature that we all tend to have with our beloved WRX's and STi's, it's more realistic to say that an 80,000-90,000 mile range be used to ensure that this wear item doesn't end up causing you to need a new engine!

This was a 2007 STI limited we wrapped up the other day after working with him on some fuel system upgrades and a Protune through his COBB Tuning Accessport. The old fuel system was using an Agency power fuel rail kit and a generic 300LPH fuel pump. It just wasn't up to the task of what the BorgWarner EFR8374 could do, and it was showing an extremely lean AFR up-top as is so it was time to make something happen. We built a fuel system with a hardwired Walbro 485 pump in the tank, -6AN feed hose, -8AN hoses under the hood, and Aeromotive Fuel Systems fuel rails and FPR. That increased his headroom drastically.
From there it was time to hit the rollers. We had some E85 (tested at 82% ethanol) waiting for it and this turbo definitely responded fantastic to the extra boost. We eventually got to the limit of fuel that our -6AN line and fuel pump were able to supply but were very pleased with the results all said and done.

Look what just arrived at the shop! A Turbo By Garrett GTX 3582 Ball Bearing Turbo capable of 750whp. This customer opted for the Tial V-band exhaust housing which can't be beat in the looks department for sure. Someone will be making some big numbers soon!
Today we are putting the finishing touches on a customer's super clean 2014 STi that was posted about yesterday. The upgrades really paid off, using quality parts from well known manufacturers is always worth it in the end! This car was able to lay down 330whp@5400rpm and 379ft-lb@3600rpm! The final upgrade is a COBB Tuning stage 1+ short shifter/bushing package to round out a very solid stage 2 build.

It's a white Subaru kind of day at the shop today. The beloved beast is back on the rack getting a couple of last minute upgrades before heading back to its owner. It's receiving a Driveshaft Shop Carbon Driveshaft, and some 15mm Project Kics spacers for the rear.
The minty fresh white hatch is here for an AEM intake, an Invidia Downpipe, a DeatschWerks 65c fuel pump, a COBB Tuning 3 Port Boost Controller, a COBB Tuning Accessport and of course a custom Dyno Tune via Cobb Speed Density. The owner will be extremely happy with this car when it's done!

Sharing a picture of one of the Motion Lab sponsored Autocross cars owned by longtime customer and new ML employee Brent Crowl. The car came to us back in 2012 for a ML500 build and Custom Dyno Tune via Opensource tuning. Since then the car has really transformed into a formidable SM class car. The car looks and performs great thanks to quality parts, selected for specific purposes, coupled with great tuning via COBB Tuning Speed Density here at Motion Lab.
This 2015 WRX came in for a large parts transformation before hitting the rollers for a Motion Lab Dyno Tune. Nearly every available Mishimoto Automotive product available for the 2015 WRX has been ordered for this customer including the Top Mount Intercooler Kit with Charge Pipe, J Pipe, Oil Cooler, and CVT Cooler. It will also be getting a set of IAG Performance TGV Delete Plates as well as a PERRIN Performance Exhaust. Couple all of those quality parts with a Custom Dyno Tune via the COBB Tuning Accessport, and this thing will be an entirely different machine for the owner.
